supercrew transmission issue :(
I have a 2002 supercrew, and withing the past few days my transmission has been acting up. I think I need to top off or replace my fluid, or possibly have my trasnmission flushed. i'm hoping it's nothing too expensive that's wrong. what happens is as it goes to shift, it goes 500-700 rpm above the normal shift points, and sometimes the clutch disengauges or something and it take a couple taps of the throttle to get it into gear. the weird thing is, once it's in gear, it functions fine with no grinding or anyting at all. help! what could my issue be?
thanks a lot!

Sounds like the bands in your tranny are slipping....a filter/fluid change could not hurt at this point and is worth a shot. But I'd be searching for a good used one out of a salvage yard to replace it. You will save some money that way.

I had the same issue in my old 01 ranger. I went to the local junkyard and they found me a tranny with only 20k on it and installed it for right around $800. I'm sure being an F150 might be a bit more, but I'd say you could go that route for about $1000 Which seems like a lot, but to have it rebuilt or a new one will cost upwards of $2000

haha well thats a bummer. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. the funny thing is that we had the transmission replaced under warranty when the truck had 30,000 miles or so on it.
