its not that hard to do, iv done mine twice in the last 2 months, second time i did it, i had it out in an hour and 45 min, and that was by myself in my drive way... electric heater def went through my mind though :P

Thanks for responses
I just got back from out of town and read the responses. I thought of another thing. I can almost see the heater core (I think) from the fire wall. What about cutting( sawing) or (torching) the core out,its not working anyway. Then make a sheet metal cover plate and fasten the new core in and cover it with the plate. No weld just a good screw job neatly done. Would this work. I really got a price from 800 to a 1000 bill to do all the work by pulling the dash steer wheel etc etc. Loads of work possibly not required just attack from the engine compartment.

Yeah Kansas be just as cold as Michigan. Hope you got enough heat to keep warm and warm up the windows. 13 year old f150 with 200K and still running good cept for all the B/S small stuff. Thanx the comeback...

You either did not hook the vacuum line up that controls the valve or you did not hook it up correctly. I put one of them in my s10 to make the ac colder. No hot coolant in heater core means a colder ac in an s10.
