Default Exterior Mirrors

So the drivers side glass, yes just the glass, fell off yesterday and shattered all over the parking lot to the hardware store yesterday. I also have the passengers side mirror housing bouncing all over the place. Well, I got to looking around on e-bay today and found these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__97-01-FORD-F-150-LED-SIGNAL-POWER-SIDE-MIRRORS-98-99-00_W0QQitemZ220368107037QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20Access oriesQQadiZ2865QQddiZ2811QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ2 0PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotor s_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item22036810703 7&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A15|39%3A1|2 40%3A1318.

So from what I am understanding, you keep the base and are replacing the housing on the exterior mirrors. Yes, I have power mirrors. So the question is....

Has anyone else done this, and do you have any pointers, instructions, etc? I know how to remove the power mirrors from the door. Beyond that....

IMO, those mirrors belong on a car...

It shouldn't be to hard of a swap if you are dead set on it, at most you would have to splice some wires.

If you are interested in just replacing the piece of glass, you can pick one up at most glass shops for under 15 bucks.

Have to agree with Ty on every aspect, but to each his own. If you like them go for it.

ya those mirrors look way too small to cover all the blind spots. eventhough they are cheap...whatever fits your style.

Those mirrors belong on a Honda Civic. Trust me man, you'll be happier just spending the extra money for what belongs on there. Check a junk yard.

Yeah, after I got to looking at them more, I've decided to go with OE replacements for about $30 more.

Now the next question... Since I am pulling off the damn interior door panel, what size speakers belong in the door and the supercab doors? I mean, as long as I'm tearing stuff apart, I might as well replace what all I can that needs replaced while I'm in there...

I am also looking for a new 2003 left (drivers) mirror. I have a question though are all the mirrors the same from 1997-03 or did they change at some point i have heard conflicting advice on this. I know they look the same but do they mount/bolt up the same. Thanks for any help guys

your speakers are 6x8. Ford is one of the few companies that use this size. you can put different size speakers in there but you have to make some minor mods. crutchfield.com does car stereo stuff and they have a search for just about any car.

technically the factory speaker is a 5x7, pioneer came out with a 6x8 to get more speaker surface area in there and some other manufacturers followed suit. In my experience you will get better sound from making a 5x7 plate of 1/4 inch MDF and cutting holes in the plate for some 5 1/4 component speakers with the seperate tweeter. That does cost quite a bit more but you will always get better sound from a round speaker than an oval.
