Exhaust manifold studs

It's what we used any time we run into rusted bolts on any of the bolts we came across when I worked for a Acura. Cheap and it works. Don't ask me why. I don't know why. I'm just saying it worked better than any of the pb blaster and similar stuff we tried.

I called a dealer by mistake going through numbers yesterday for an alignment, $375, lol.

don't go to a dealer. I have a leak on my passenger side manifold on my truck and I called a local chain muffler shop, and they quoted me at $400 unless there's trouble, and up to $500 if they have trouble with the studs, which they expect to do. that's replacing the manifold and expecting broken studs. I can see no way fixing a broken stud would reasonably run $4,000 unless the new stud has a new engine attached to it.

I have a stud that busted off and I am looking at replacing it today. I am looking at the other bolts and they are facing off like they are a part of the block that the manifold sits on and you bolt it up. From the videos I watched that is not how it is, but they where different vehicles. My main question is how are these bolts connected and do I have to take the manifold off to replace the stud?
The stud its self broke about 3/4" in, any tips on how to extract it?
