this may sound crazy, but it happens and wont give a code for a while, check the evap canister for blockage, mine was stopped up with dirt, being blocked will cause excessive vacum in fuel tank and between 40-50 mph bucks and kicks just like not locking up in od. if not the problem, good idea to clean this thing out anyway, it is located just in front of the spare tire tucked up tight to the bottem of bed.

it was full of trans fluid. i know its kicking out of od because i can watch the rpms go up and feel it kick down. it only does it in over drive i can hit the od button off and it does fine. how do i clean the evap canister?

One thing to check,

If you are having TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor ) issues, its not telling the trans when to shift properly because the TPS is faulty. Basically meaning that the TPS sends info back to the pcm regarding how far down you are mashing the gas. If you are at 1/2 throttle and the TPS is reporting 1/4 throttle then the converter on the tranny is going to not understand when to lock and unlock.

How long has it been since you have had your tranny serviced?
By serviced , I mean oil, filter and shift solenoids inspected?

Your trans should be the 4R70. I thought my trans was acting up to but it was a coil pack. it would act up between 40 and 55. If you had a trans code your OD light would blink to tell you there was a code. If your check engine light came on most likely its in the engine.

ill check the coil packs. engine doesnt feel like its missing though. ill try an get the TPS replace this week but moneys been a little tight.
