Default Lift Kits (suspension)...which one ?

Looking for a 4" kit, one that maintains the factory ride (no keys) for a 98 SC 4X4.

I'll most likley purchase the shocks separately. It's looking that way anyway. I really don't need anything to lift the rear, going a different route. Thing is, I doubt I can find just a front end lift.

Anyway, as far as quality lift, what do you guys suggest ?

Thanks ,

Brew

I've been looking into small lifts as well in lieu of the 3" body lift. With the slightly taller rear spring I'd like use the front of the suspension lift to give me back my stock steering geometry with near level CV's. Instead of the turned up torsion keys to level.

I don't know about their lift quality but in searching, the only two brands I've found that can give me what I need in the 3.5-5" range, is the RCX and the Tuff country.

I'm not aware of the specifics but the Tuff country says it can adjust down to 3.5".

This is what's going on in the rear, -

Description:

Spring Capacity = 2200 lbs
Width = 2-1/2
# of Leaves = 5(4/1)
Measures (A/B) = 32 X 26-1/2
Pad Thickness = 2-1/4
Bushings Included
Sold Per Side - Order Quantity 2 fro pair

Features:

Heavy Duty Replacement
5160 Steel - Heat Treated and Shot Peened
Corrects Sag, Leaning, Sway
Tip Inserts to Reduce Friction, Preavent Squeaking and Eliminate Shear Point from Metal on Metal Contact
1 Year Warranty
_______________________________

Adding shackles, bolts.

From there, I'm not sure if I'll need much of a block or possibly a re-arch for rear height adjustment. I'll fine tune after the front is set and settled.

BTW- Thanks Wolvee

Youll need alot more block. When I leveled my truck long ago I replaced the rear factory 3 leaf pack for the 2200 lb rating form a 7700. You will still need 2"-3" more lift in the rear to remain level with a 4" kit. The best 4" available at one point was the Rancho 4". I doubt that is in production anymore. The best bet for a something around 4" would be the RCD and not crank as much on the torsion bars or try reindexing them so you can appliy the correct preload with the height.

I'm done messing with IFS. I'm working on a SAS soultion and not pushing the truck sky high. I will however be ordering a set of custom rear leafs from Deaver.

Yea, I'll never go body lift on anything I own. I look quickly at lifts over at 4wheeler last night and there isn't much offered.

BTW- I'm doing this now because I'm about ready to blast the frame, tank...uknow, the undercarriage. Remove the components that I'm going to swap out and replace anyway. Then blast, prime and paint the undercarriage, install the new parts completing this part of the project.

I would go with a RCD 5". Its is probably one of the best riding setups I have ever been in. When setup right (29") front ride height you'll practically have the stock ride with the slightly lifted look. FYI most 6" lifts are right around 31" as installed height as they are using are leveling the truck at the same time. I wish FLikr never went to Yahoo. I had a image saved of when I ran maxed out Readylift Keys on 7700 tbs, and 1800 lb 7700 springs with 3" blocks. It was compleltely level and the front end was at 25 5/8". But I let it go for about 6 months before I got tired of the bump steer and and killiing inner tie rods.

Kudos for leaving your "as designed" suspension alone. Your doing yourself a favor and respecting your truck, IMO. Besides, torsion lifts aren't really lifts, they're drop preventers.

What are your plans for the rear? What are your off-roading plans? You put up some pictures of your tires in another thread. They're great tires. Are you sticking with those?

I've seen enough of your posts to know that you know what your options are. It's hard to say anything without knowing what you're plans are for the back end.

Alright thanks, I know I mentioned this here and there and had good suggestions from you and others, but I hadn't saved them dangit. Appreciate as much help as I can get about going the best route. I was hoping to use as little block as possible, but it not that critical.
I know I looked at Rancho and they didn't offer ANY kits for anything that I could find last night, they go out of business?

Yea that's priority one, the ride. My pre-load is lost. Figured I would have to go thru the factory ride height numbers assuring all measurements are as close to spec as possible to get the correct pre-load back. I'm not sure there's any other way other than back to factory height and get the alignment as close as possible first before dismantle. Uknow, ALL the measurements...under and across the front.
