Engine Swap to Cummins
ok, so here it is I have upgraded to a SAS with 2.5 king coilovers to take the weight of the 1200 tag that comes with the cummins 6bt engine. I plan on swapping out my 4.6L V8 for a cummins 6bt. I would just like some advice or anything from someone with a background on this. Thanks!

To What End?
That's a very ambitious and expensive endeavor....I must wonder what it is you want, a Cummins in a Ford chassis or a diesel.
If it's just the Cummins, go for it. If it's just a diesel, the Powerstroke engines are hard to beat and may be a much better fit to the chassis....and they weigh less.
At one time I was really keen on getting a Jimmy two-stroke diesel into my '85 Chevy C10. I was looking at a turbo 3-53, but I found that the engine was too heavy at 1000 lbs and too dam*ed tall to fit under the hood. In addition to all that, if I was able to get the engine in, could I live with a raucous 2-stroke screamer?

I would strongly recommend using a 4bt with the 1/2 ton frame. The 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks would be a better choice for a 6bt.

what tranny do you plan on using? cause your probably gonna have to modify the floor pan to make it fit along with custom driveshaft(s). fuel system the existing pump will need to be removed and replaced with a fass system or draw straw for the lift pump. also what 6bt would you use? a mechanical injection one would probably be the easiest. if your looking for power get a 6bt with a p7100 215hp injection pump on it lots of potential.

x2 on the 4bt it would fit easier and have more than enough power for a 1/2 ton truck you could turn it up a bit and get 275-300hp and that would be like 5-650ftlbs tq which is more than enough to break stuff
