Lol that's good logic right there.

Where can I find the weight of my standard cab 4x4 short wheel base Flair side 5.4? Started to inter the info on Torque. But did not know the weight. Would guess 5000 lbs. But that's a guess. My other daily driver weights in at 14,000 lbs. So I'm sure the weight is way off on the 1999.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know how much their local machine shop charges to completely refresh an engine block, crank, install new rods and Pistons/rings? Basically I need my short block rebuilt with better rods and Pistons and have everything refreshed. Was quoted $4k? That just doesn't seem right to me as the rods and Pistons I picked out won't even run me $1500. So 2500 for machine work and the other small components like gaskets and bearings?

You can get pre built short blocks, probably with higher quality parts, for less

My entire machine shop bill was under $3,000. That included cleaning the block and heads. Boring, honing, a valve job, and the entire rebuild kit to go in it.

when I had my jeeps cylinder head at the machine shop, it cost just over $100 to have them clean it, mag it to check for cracks, and resurface it. and that's including tax.

don't know if this will help you any, but I'll put it here just in case it does.

Damn that's cheap. Yeah I think the shop I asked for a quote from is just throwing a huge number out there. For $4k, Ford makes a built 5.4 short block that can handle 800+ and is very reliable from what I've heard. All I'm looking for is my short block all prepped and assembled. Not a whole lot of work for $2500 of labor
