I definitely have a list of mods I want to do now lol. Sounds like it was a huge improvement for you, 6 seconds is a lot. What do you run 0-80 In now? You also have 24lb injectors right? I'll probably get started on the intake first, then LTHs will wait until after I regear. Who did your tuning?

Lol that's what's really holding my back from doing headers. I know with my luck I'll break every one of those stupid things

19 lb'ers are plenty, no tuning required. I hardware tuned the trans, with a shift kit. Troyer helped me with that who was a well known tuner.

what's your exhaust setup after the LT's? pipe diameter, routing, muffler setup, etc

Since the Pacesetter are the longest LT's in production for these trucks and I have a 4x4, space was limited. I cut out the flange on one side of the hf cats, welded in 3" id flange to slip fit the header collector and reduced through the cat to 2.5". Mandrel bent the cross over to maintain 2.5" through the bend. Factory Y shrink to 2.25 through the bend. I kept it 2.5 all the way through to a Magnaflow muffler and re attached the factory tp to exit behind the tire.

Some pics, -

ahh okay. that sounds pretty damn good of a setup. so you used the factory Y? is that to keep the exhaust pressure enough to prevent issues with the factory tune and too much flow?

I might actually do a very similar setup on my truck, whenever I actually get around to changing the exhaust up, if you say a tune isn't required. that was one of the main setbacks keeping me from pushing through with changing the exhaust a lot sooner.

Nah, no tune require for intake and headers. What the deal is with that, they will run a little lean, but not dangerously lean. They could could tweak your factory tune a little, but no, it's not worth the expense. However, if you off ALL you cats, then you'll need to tune. The AF's will be to far out and you'll loose your usable hp. I learned that the harder way , way back when.

You can get canned or costume tunes set for a specific task, but for the most part that just changes your shift points in the tune. Tuning for factory original rides (for the most point) didn't change much until the 04's, mainly with the 3V's. Ford left a lot on the table with the 04's and up - canned tunes made a big difference with models alone, without any mods.

BTW - Don't forget E-Fans. Surprisingly, that mod is worth 10 -15 hp. There's a little to learn there going with the good set up and controller.

Hmmm I wonder if 300 crank hp is possible without me cracking into the motor. I already have efans, so LTHs, P&P intake, Volant CAI, then I already have custom tunes but I would get them updated for the mods. 300 might be doable on a 93 tune

You can use the factory y but it's a biitch to weld up on the 4x4 because it reduces to 2.25 at the bend and the metal is stretched. I used at first, but went with a mandrel bend later.

A 2.5 Y is perfect for the engine power and torque. The 3" Y's are called offroad pipes. that translates running WFO ALL the time as it only helps way up into the rpms. It's for the offraod racing trucks. With a 3' you'll need tune. With the right tune you can run just about anything. Put it this way, you can run open headers and gain horsepower everywhere. The only thing stopping that is the tune.
