Yea they will run on two quarts as you found out. I'm not sure how long, but they'll stay cool enough. Probably run for quite awhile like that. I believe if there's only two quarts in the pan, it won't even register on the stick. Did it show you had oil in it on the stick?

Nope lol but even after I change the oil it doesn't show up on the stick. It's Wierd. It's like there some coating on my dip stick that repels oil. Well I was gonna do a BL, 18s, and 35s this summer but now that's not happening. I'm pretty upset haha. I can't decide if I want to just want to part ways with it or rebuilt the motor. If I can find a bullet proofed crew cab 6.0thays other wise stock I may jump on it

Mines the same way, between each oil change it gets 2 quarts low but it stays at 4 quarts never goes under that and idk were the oils going it doesnt smell like burnt oil out the exhaust, and mine doesnt show up on the stick after an oil change either

I'm leaning towards just cutting my loses and just getting a new to me truck. I would consider a rebuild ir even a low mile used if i had a screw. But I know when I Crack into it I'm gonna wanna build it to take boost and I don't have the money to build the motor with boost and trans and I don't think I would in this truck.

New to me truck. Jeezz, I've been thinking about that for years, but I can't commit for some reason. Doc says well maybe you got a depression. Depression! What's that, some sort of pinched nerve?

One of these days I'm gonna do it...honest.

Huh. My dog hasn't died yet, but it looks like it got runned over a few times.

New truck or build ? Tuff one. How about a new truck while your building?

Lol After looking at the price of the trucks I want building or replacing the engine is looking to be the better option lol I don't know if I could let my truck go. 11th gens are in my price ranges but I think they are ugly. And I would have to sell my right ******** to afford a diesel. If I get a new truck 09-10 is what it would probably be. I may just ignore the issue and feed it a steady supply of oil until I get out of college. Or see if I can find a nice low mile 10th gen screw loaded fx4 lol I'm to picky.

I have slight valve stem oiling issues as well. It took me a long time to figure out where my oil was going. So I will be dealing with a new engine eventually.

If you want to keep your *********, Yea, a nice 10 gen, I like the tenth gen diesels as well...plenty enough to do the job. If you look at or are thinking about a 11th gen gaser, start at the 08's and work up. To avoid most of the 11th gen woes. Some of the 07's are good. The models that are good have brown coil boots.
