Ya it does have an old school vibe to it.
Less boost, less fuel but makes more power than a factory eaton. Must be really efficient then

Sorry guys been busy with life. A now 11 month old rug rat keeping us busy, work, side jobs, upgrades to the house, holidays, helping friends built or sell there homes, etc. I tried to answer all the questions yall asked!

And love that 2005 L engine!
Before I sold it I ended up taking the idler arm apart and had a buddy copy the Teflon bushing in them and make them out of brass. IIRC it was brass, so chances are the idler arm is good. I also lowered the torsion bars down some too so it wouldn't have as much angle as it did when I had it.

About the 2005. I emailed him I was like dude there wasn't even a 2005 L made. I also told him a few other things. And they said, " How do I know all this? Im the original owner and builder of this truck that's how" He replied why does the drivers side front bumper have 2005 on it then? I said there known as Saleen numbers. Lightings were numbered vehicles, they only made 4270 in 2003. The motor in that truck came out of the 2005th lightning made in 2003. Never heard back from him, nor did he ever correct the ad.

Yeah, he is asking more now than what I sold it to the original guy that bought it for in Oct of 2010.

I was afraid to add everything up but from stock to where it was when I sold it im willing to bet I had 75Kish into it.

And many agree but you would not built a truck of the caliber it was when I owned it for anywhere close to that. It was more than a motor swap. It has a one off custom stereo that was and still is the cleanest setup in a 97-03 I have ever seen. The stereo was the hardest part of selling it. The shop that did the work Cold Forged Customs in Houston is no long open. Everything else could be redone, the stereo system not so much. I lived in New Orleans. I drove the truck to Houston dropped it off at the shop, flew home and a week later when it was done I had a from coming in town from Houston to New Orleans drive it back to me. Hell, the wheels and tires alone cost me $3400. Not adding in the 3 sets of tires and 2 sets of wheels I had before them.

My Original asking price was 20K in 2009. It took me just about a year to sell and between the money I got for the truck and the parts I removed from it and later sold I got a little over 18K for it IIRC.

My guess would be that is a complete lie. Maybe exhaust but the only thing that he could have upgraded is from manifolds to LTs and catless midpipes. The set up when I sold it was OEM manifolds, 2.5" pipe, removed front cats, stock rear cats, 2.5" exiting each cat, then from there I Y'ed it into a single 3.5" pipe then into a AeroTurbine 3535XL Diesel 3.5' Inlet 3.5" Outlet Muffler, then angled it out the side like a Lightning with a 4" double walled MBRP tip. Everything behind the Y was stainless, from the Y forward was aluminized steel. Damn I miss the sound of it!

Yep! The person who bought it from me was a 46Yr old man that was soon to retire from being a Military surgical nurse.

If it wasn't for a women, id prolly still have it. LoL Just Kidding. It was a good decision to sell it. Works OT was slacking off a lot and I honestly couldn't afford to drive it $4 gallon for 93 and 10MPG on the highway wasn't light on the pocket books. And you can drive something like that with playing, so that 10 was much much lower lol. Paid off my other truck, paid off the wifes car, paid for our honeymoon, and put 5-6K in the bank. After I put the motor in it I only drive it around town and to GTGs in 2 years I only put 6K miles on it. So while it still had some value to it I decided to sell it.

That would be funny for sure! The truck never seen mud when I had it. Stayed cleaner than most Vettes on the road!

It wasn't a L swap, it was a complete 2003 take out motor with 32K miles when I put it in the truck. The chassis had 97K IIRC when I put the motor in it. The N/A motor I had in it before had a L swap on it. I ended up melting #2 piston at the drag strip which was the cause of me to put a new motor in it. And the price I found a complete motor for I was able to buy it, sell all the L swap parts off the N/A along with other parts that came with the motor and only come out of pocket $1500ish. It was not built, it was a stock 2003 motor. The tranny was stock internals also, I did have a Factory Tech shift plate in it, the tranny lines bypassed the radiator and entered a Factory Tech tranny cooler with a 8" SPAL EFan behind it. Keeping the tranny cool and clean was and is the key to why its still going strong! Stock DS, Stock Axles, but it did have from the day it was lifted 4.56 Yukon gears with a TA Cover.

Nope, stock tranny besides the mods I listed above.

Yep just gears. shift kit and tranny cooler

I post above will answer all those questions.

The truck was run for sure, weighed 6800lbs with me in it pulled a best of 2.08 60' and ran a 14.56@91MPH. It surprised ALOT of cars! With a better tune theirs no doubt in my mind that it had a 13 in her. I just sold it before I could get it.

The person who bought it from me Rick changed the windshield, put a bed liner in it and ended up having to change one of the CV shafts 2 or 3 times. He also snapped a front axle that he had to replace. He put less than 10K miles on it. I had it for 97K and never had to do anything like that. Infact, the DAY AFTER HE TOOK DELIVERY the OEM CV boot ripped. Guess the angled CV shafts finally had enough.

I sure do miss it, don't think ill ever build something as nice again(Kid, Wife, House, Etc) but it was fun when I had her. Made some of the best friends in the world while building her. Infact 3 of the 5 groomsman in my wedding was from the forum!

Thanks! The wife and I normally take our annual trip over to Jacksonville/St Augustine to visit my truck, just kidding, to visit her family there in July. We normally spend a few days there then head down to the happiest place on earth for a few days before turning around and coming home. Not sure exactly what we are going to do this year with the addition of the little man but ill let ya know. Chances are its not looking good, October starts turn around at work which means 7-12s.
