Engine Builders talk.

Need some advice here, I'm big on fixing anything on my truck myself and 9/10 I'm able to, thankfully I've not had to do any real motor work besides swapping old for new parts... Came across this reman engine for my truck and the company claims this about it.. At a price of 3k for the motor that would be pure plug and play. My question is, is it worth the price or would it be cheaper to rebuild my current motor with all high end parts, if i take it out i only want to put the top of the line parts in it. Thanks!

no i don't, but in the future when it becomes time to rebuild it, i might just swap it for a fresh motor if its gonna be the better way to go about it. The way i see it.. 5k into motor and trans VS A new truck... I'll drop money in my truck any day over that lol

If your not wanting to build any power out of it, the stock reman is perfectly fine. The powder metal rods are the weakest link, but they are good up to around 400 - 450 HP or so. Get close to or beyond that and you'll vent your block.

thanks, Ive accepted the fact my trucks not a race truck have no need for 500hp, maybe a little engine mods sense it will be fresh but nothing crazy.. and motors is the one area I'm iffy on, when the time comes I'll probably just swap a fresh 5.4 in her and call it a day. Thanks guys.
