Default ELM327 Super Mini

Just received my OBD2 Bluetooth dongle and it works fine with my smartphone but wont communicate with the ECU.

After conducting research online I found that they are not "talking" the same language as Ford protocol therefore useless to us.

Anyone had any luck with these?

They seem to be hit or miss. The cheapest of the cheap don't communicate with Fords.

I bought one off ebay for 11$ awhile back. Used it in both of my fords with no problems.
It wasn't a mini but it was still a cheap elm 327.
Also using a cracked Torque pro apk for android.

ELM327 clone from china with version v2.1.
It not work with Ford with PWM protocol.
I opened it and it lack of pin 2 and pin 10.
I bought iCAR2 (same ELM), It working good for Ford (OBD2 and OEM)

Soooo..turns out my ELM327 mini works fine with my 2007 Ford Explorer 4.6 V8 Limited, it's not a total loss after all.

Turns out it uses the CAN protocol vice SAE J1850 PWM protocol like our truck do. Appenrently changed in 2005.

Now I know...
