An edge tuner says it can change the "gears" in your vehicle. Is this actually possible to trick the computer into thinking it has other gears, or when it says gears is it something different from the gears I am thinking of. I'm thinking of the "I have a 3.55, want 4.XX" type of gears. I have read an Edge is not really worth it if all you are after is MPG increase, but if it will also help me run bigger tires in the future it would be for me I think.

Also, how do I find what gears I have?

it means that it will tell the computer what the gearing is in your differential. Not tricking it, when you change the gears in your diff. the computer needs to know so it can recalibrate the speedo and milage otherwise it will be way off.

Ohh! So it is actually required if I DO change the gears, they arent exclusive. I see, thanks a lot

Also since I have your attention, what sort of shop do you go to to have gears changed and what is a reasonable cost to do it?
