Drivers side mirror
Does anyone know how to replace the glass in the drivers side mirror on a 1997 F150 4x4 Flareside? Do you have to remove the complete assembly first or can you do it on the truck? It has remote control and I suspect heated. No signals. I have read somewhere that you can pop it off and replace the glass? Any help or video would be greatly appreciated.

Mine wasnt heated, but i replaced the driver's side mirror.
Simple... but prolly not the way...
I broke it out. Smashed it until i could take the pieces out. I already had a vertical break in the glass that caused the whole piece to flex, so i helped it along with the handle end of a screwdriver and a couple of nicely placed taps.
There's a sort of foot inside that is attached to the motor which holds the glass. It looked to be held on with silicone, so i went and got clear silicone and put the new glass in, then taped it in place over the housing for a day or so so i was sure that it was set in.
Prolly not the way to do it, but hey... if the glass is already broken, there's no harm in checking things out.
