Well considering they do fit for them... That's what is stock. To put an aftermarket double din in you have to trim a bit. Search for the thread. I don't remember the name.

You are right The opining is not true DD. Some head units will fit and some you have to do a little trimming. The one I just put in my truck I had to cut the opening 1/4" taller The trim was fine. In my 99 I also had to cut out a piece of sheet metal above the radio. In my sons 03 didn't have to do that.

I have had a pioneer Double din in my truck for years now. Used to watch all kinds of movies on it. It wasn't too hard to install. Just had to trim up the plastic on top and fab us some mounts. The wiring was a little challenging, but mine came with a diagram of how to wire it all up.

Well I have an 03 so maybe I won't have to do that. I know they make double din kits. So do I need one of those?

To clarify the 03 we had to trim the plastic some for height. In the 99 there was some sheet metal running down at an angle to the back that had to be cut out. In the 03 the sheet metal is bent different and wasn't in the way.
