Default Door locks lose power

1999 F150 Lariet, 4X4, 85k, power everything.

The auto door locks dont ever work properly. The passenger side doesnt respond at all and the drivers side will lock after 3 or 4 clicks, sometimes. Both seem to lose power the more I push the button. Has anyone ever experienced this problem?? Also, my digital odometer cuts in and out. Mostly out.

The problem your describing with the door locks is common in the 99' F150 and is caused by a bad door lock relay. It costs about $10 at you local parts store.
The intermittent odometer problem is also a common issue and is expensive to have repaired at the dealer. About $600. It's causeed by a cracked solder joint on the circuit bord of the digital odometer. You can repair it yourself in about three hours if you are handy with a solder gun. Here are a couple of links to help you.

I'm having the same problem with my door locks. The passenger side wont work and the driver side responds after acouple attempts and then after that they seem to not have any power..almost as if i had a dead battery in the truck. Can someone go into more detail about replacing a "Door Lock Relay". Thanks In Advance

Everything I've read about the power door locks is caused by actuators wearing out.

for you locks its the acutator. you can pick them up from your local napa or autozone for around $50 or so...each. also to replace you need to remove your door panel, which, unless you have the proper plastic tools i wouldnt try doing myself because if you break the clamps youre screwed...i just got mine fixed cost me $115 total through a mechanic. I too am having the odometer problem as well, I have read it is a very common thing with the Ford trucks, and to fix you need to take apart the whole dashboard...IMO, better off to just keep tapping the glass lol

The door panels come off buy lifting up before you do the are 2 screws that need to be taken out befor you do it there on the top under the two trim pieces on the window part
