Default Door Lock Problem

Hello All -

I have a 99 Extended cab with 130,000 miles on it. Love the truck, but running into a problem that just started with the automatic door locks.

When I push "lock" or "unlock" - the locks make an attempt (you can hear them/see them move a bit) to go up or down, but don't make it.

They make a less than powerful attempt to move, but don't go up or down.

Thoughts? Easy fix one could do at home if they had good directions?

Thanks...

Decimus...

Sounds like your Door Lock Actuators are in need of a replacement. If you dont mind taking off your inside door panels and putting your hand inside to loosen a couple bolts, then you are a definate do it yourselfer.

Good info - thanks much for the relpy .

I don't have much experience working on autos - but if I have a good guide I am handy enough to usually pull it off.

Anybody know of a guide for this type of repair/replacement?

pick yourself up the haynes manual for your truck - it's less than $20 new and gives you all the information along with pictures and step by step to do anything to your truck. Truly an indispensable guide!
