Default 98 4.6 crappy gas mileage!!!

I recently bought this truck for a great deal. It has about 142000 miles, but the engine was replaced in dec 2010(which only has about 3500 miles). When I first got the truck the check engine light was on for insufficient EGR flow. I narrowed the problem down to carbon build up in the intake manifold. I got all that cleaned out and replaced the pressure sensor because it was all gunked up as well. Check engine light has been out for about 700 miles. Now to the problem, my gas mileage has been erratic since I've had the truck. At first it was about 250 miles to a tank; after I got the EGR system functioning properly I was getting as much as 350 miles to a tank. Now it looks like I'll be lucky if I break 200 miles per tank; that's garbage. I can't think of a place to start looking because the truck sounds and drives fine, haven't had any problems. I was hoping someone could guide me In the right direction because I don't know were to look.

It may sound stupid but tire pressure can GREATLY affect gas MPG, as well as engine tune up's.

Check and make sure the tires have effecient air. If havn't done so, you might think about a basic tune up, such as: plugs, air filter, PCV, fuel filter
