Default Diy bedliner questions

I was just wondering everyone's for those who have it how there experience with DIY bedliners went? Has anyone used herculiner? It's a cheap buy at the local fleet farm however when I look at pics of it, it seems that it dries uneven and doesn't look as smooth as it should. Anyone else recommend another product or what are your thoughts?

I've got herculiner. Do plenty of prep work and you'll be fine. Mine I didn't have to worry about but a good uv protectant would help keep from fading

That looks really good. Im just so sick of the plastic liner and everything sliding around all the time. That looks much better in my opinion anyways.

This is Dupli-Color Bed Liner in a spray can. All I did was the tailgate.

I've done it twice. (2 different trucks) I used some rough steel wool, the scotch bright pad didn't do enough for me. I've use the Hurculiner and Duplicolor bed armor. Cleanup was easier with Duplicolor, but I didn't like it as much as I liked the Hurculiner. The Hurculiner kit rolled nicer, had more particles in it and was all around a tougher finish in my opinion. But you can do a really nice job on a bedliner for a fraction of the cost of a rhino liner or line x.

I did my 98 with the cheap rustoleum liner from wally world. one gallon was enough to do two coats. It looks alright-it would've been better sprayed rather than rolled on. the thicker you roll it on the better it looks, though.

Do you have to prime it before putting it on there?

After I painted mine I read online that you don't need to prime it. But I think that the primer made it come out nicer. It filled all the deep scratches and gave me a fresh surface to work on. Like everyone says, preparation is everything.

It's holding up pretty good. Better than I though actually. A couple deep gouges here and there, but nothing bad. It was definitely worth the $10 I put into it.

I prefer something like a Dualliner for DIY stuff. While spray in liners are technically DIY, they are way too finicky IMHO.
