DIY ABS Module Rebuild - ABS Pump Won't Shut Off - Issue Solved
#151
Well you could use a meter and check continuity from one of the motor wires to the other on the module. If continuity, then FET is shorted and will run the motor regardless of other inputs. Wouldn't sensor faults set codes?
A wiring diagram would be very helpful.

Sure !!
Let me get back to you after working on it. !!!!

I checked both front sensors with the meter, they are "close" to spec.
(I have a 4X4 5.4)
So if I unplug the big harness and leave the small one plugged in and the motor runs, does it mean the pump is bad? I didn't quite understand that part.

NO. if you unplug the big harness, and leave the small plugged in, it is not checking any thing.
when big harness removed, there is no power to module, hence no power to pump. So even its bad it would not run. As there is no power.
please send me link where to buy MOSFET from? thanks.

Well, got the chips in from the slow boat from China... (buz111) don't look anything like the SUM90N06-4M4P-E3 that were posted earlier.
So I done an Ebay search and found the SUM90N06-4M4P-E3 ones (guy has 10 or more) for $3.23 (I ordered 2)
Arctic Silver AATA-5G Alumina Adhesive Thermal Epoxy Compound 5g
Getting lazy in my old age... screw running around trying to find places that sell it... ordered sent for free!
Besides... thunder storms moving in! I don't want to melt! (wife say's only 2 things melt in the rain.... crap and sugar... i'll leave it up to you guys to figure what i'm made of LOL )
P.S. I have yet to pull the unit apart and see what chip is actually in my unit, for a few bucks I'll have 2 of each type before I start... that way i'll be kind of prepared for the job..
P.P.S. I ordered the BUZ111S chips off of Ebay also... took a week and a half to get here but they are less than a buck a piece
Hope this helped

Ok... I dropped the url's for the Ebay listings because when I look at them it comes up with the "buy now" for my account.
Not sure if I will actually let folks use it, but i'm not going to list the thing... LOL...
Suffice to say, I got the stuff off of Ebay by typing in the numbers from the previous posts

Think of the FET as an electronic switch. When it fails, there are 2 modes of failure. One is open which means the ABS pump will never run. One is closed which means it runs all the time. You can use a meter to test the module with it unplugged (not receiving any sensor signals). It should be open (pump not running) if it tests closed, then you know the FET is bad.

Finally got the second set of chips in, looks more like the original posters chip... got the thermal glue (two part) in also.
Looks like this week (after tues) I will be pulling the module for repair.
And I am hoping my cheapo soldering iron is up to the task

My short Cut !!
Ahhh . FINALLYYYYYY !!!!!
My problem IS SLOVED !!!!
i opted to go a auto wrecker. Found a ford f150 ( totally eccidental). Opened 4 bolts took it for $20 only. Got home. Fitted it and VOila.
No ABS light. NO pump running. And i checked on mud and ABS works good.
Hope fully i would not need to order stuff china. and tear open the module and put solder the new ones in.
Anyways. I am so thank full to every one.
Again. I could not find the place where to order these?
For any member who is not techy. I extend my hand for any kind of help one needs.
Thanks again.

Yup same boat got the 4.2l v6 2wd. Put in a new mosfet today and the pumped wasnt running, but as soon as I started the truck the new mosfet got instantly shorted and broke again. Once I get a new replacement, I'll take apart the old one and see if I could find the component that's shorting the mosfet on the 2wd versions.
I bought these ones here: https://www.digikey.ca/product-detai...GCT-ND/3196532
