My 2000 XLT just got a new steering wheel installed--(LONG Story). Noticed the cruise control was setting but wouldn't maintain speed. Took truck to dealer and was told that the servo (?) motor and cable were corroded. They recommended that both be replaced, but at $700 quoted price I don't need to have cruise that bad. Can anybody suggest how I can get this fixed at a lower price? Is it wise to get the part from a rec yard? What parts do I need to get? Just what has to be done to fix this short of getting new parts?

Did your cruise control work before relacing the steering wheel? Did you replace it with a factory steering wheel?
