Default cost for spark plugs

so i think im having the good ol cop problem.. i just got the ford a while ago so i am going to replace the spark plugs before the coils and hopefully that does the trick.. however, i dont want to waste an entire day to replace spark plugs and i dont have an amry of tools at my disposal. soo anyone have any idea what it is going to cost to have someone do it for me? if u have an idea of how long it takes a decent mechanic to replace them that would be helpful as well.. 2001 f150 lariat 5.4 triton.

Be prepared to empty your wallet from my knowlege. at least with my 4.6L triton they wanted 300 to put new plugs in. now i knw with the 4.6s they tend to break off in the head if they havent been changed for a while. im pretty sure the 5.4s were the same not for sure. my guess is probally
$250 with parts and labor at a ford dealership. maybe more maybe less depending on how smoothly it goes i guess.

Plugs breaking is for the 04-08 models. The 97-03's shoot them out of the head if not torqued correctly. It will take a decent mechanic anywhere from 1-3 hours of labor depending how things go. Be sure to go with motorcraft plugs to avoid more misfires. If it truly is a COP problem why not replace them too?

It will take 3.5 hours according to the ford dealership computer and in Alaska it will cost $428.

Your better off buying the tools and doing them yourself for that much...Otto has a great write-up on how to do it in the "how to" section.
