Reason: Added words VIN and Door tag.
Will these codes work on all 97-03s? I'm looking for one with a limited slip and the axle codes could be very helpful.

I am not currently anywhere near my truck....I bought it out of state and all I have is the title application and new plates. I'm wondering if the lady at the deputy registrar's office copied the VIN number correctly as not much seems to add up. Here's the VIN on my title appl. 1FTRF7W8YNBxxxxx There is no assembly plant that is coded with a "B". There is no engine on your list that is an "8"....I can't see how she could have mixed up the 7th and 8th digits and also the 10th and 11th...? I suppose anything is possible.

If what you posted as your VIN is what is on the title, (1FTRF7W8YNBxxxxx) you are missing one letter or number. All VIN numbers today have 17 digits, you are only showing 16.

You're so right. I hadn't noticed the missing digit....it's no wonder I was confused. Incredibly the lady at the deputy registrars office didn't. She forgot the 1 that should have been between the F and 7 (1FTRF17....) but even more incredible is that she also put a 5 down on the title application where it should've been a 3.
I never thought of copying the old North Dakota title...it could have been wrong on that, and she copied down what she had. I've never seen an issued title that was that far off....??

Reason: I could have been wrong in accusing the MN deputy registrar.
