Lots of wiring and splicing into the PCM. Just a warning. Your speedo will have to use the signal from the controller too. 4x4 hi will work fine. Its not controlled by the PCM (well in some sense). In you want 4x4 low to work you have some more wiring to do.

Im pretty Good with wiring. As long as I have a schematics. But this plan just got cancelled. The smog inspector told me he wants to see the lightning Ecu+engine+trans. Any different trans. Or trans controller is an automatic fail. I said the trans or trans controller has nothing to do with emissions and he said he didn't care. That ANY non ford part HAS to have a carb number or it's a fail point. I said no trans controller is going to have a carb number because California doesn't demand it since it's irrelevant to smog. He didn't care

My turn to ask a silly question, for it to work correctly. I can replace my ecm that's for a 4r70 with one for a 4r100 and everything will work properly? Or do I have to have a seperate one just to control the transmission?

Does anyone know if all of the valve bodys are the same between the variants of the transmissions?

[QUOTE=ibd2328;3615275]This is for a 4wd application, 2WD is much easier. Will explain details on into the thread.
...... The 2wd tail shaft is 20" long while the 4wd is 14" long. Unlike the 5R110, you cannot simply pull the tail shaft out, you have to take the entire transmission apart and put the tail shaft in, then reassemble. The spline count of the output shaft matches the borg warner 4406 transfer case found in nearly all 97-03 F150's so that is not an issue.....]

Would it be possible to simply cut the output shaft to fit? I have seen it done on the 6L80e pretty easily.

Should be fine changing valve bodies. Just check the EPC solenoid
