Question cold mornings start, then dies

hello, I have a 98 f150 purchased new. Issue for several winters now. First start of the day[cold weather only] truck cranks over and fires, then dies or chugs at low rpms then catches? and rpms increase to 1400 or so and all is well. Otherwise on second restart it will start and idle will go up to where it should. It is a 4.6 and I do hear the fuel pump. Tried tapping on the idle speed control. Anybody else have this? thanks for your help..

How cold is the mornings when you start it? Not saying the fuel is frozen.... but who knows.

My 98 4.6 did basically the same thing, I had the fuel filter replaced and injectors cleaned, seems fine now. I live in Alberta and it gets very cold here. (20-30 below celsius) Auto-starters rule!
