A noticing a bit of problems on my engine... My check engine light came on.. p0304.. 4th misfire... yet the plugs were barely changed nearly 5k ago... i reseted the computer with the scanner and disconnected the coil on plug on the 4th cylinder..

When I do that.. it runs great.. but then I start to feel that misfire again.. i do the process over.. disconnect the coil.. and plug it back.. I got individual coils..

Am thinking that my coil is going bad??... any feedback?? por favor..

I've been having this same issue with my coils too (I have a 5.4 but it shouldn't make a difference in this matter). I had to replace the #5 coil a while back, and just recently my #7 coil is doing the same thing. It basically feels like you have a loss of power and when you get on it, the truck jerks and sputters, right? If thats whats happening, you might be right. You might also want to check to see if you have fliud in the area, because when it happened to me I was driving through and wet and heavy snow storm and slush and snow got packed up in there. I had to bring it to a ford shop to get the code cleared. Anyway, hope this helped. Good luck.

Yeah that's what happened to my truck. Only it didn't turn out to be the coils. I just replaced the plugs and 5k miles later it was missing on certain cyclinders. Some moisture/rain got in between the plugs and the wires. I ended up buying new plugs and wires and also bought some sort of lubricant that prevents moisture from getting into the plugs. Haven't had a problem since. So check for moisture on the plugs. Good Luck.

yea.. i've checked out my plug.. no moisture.. am in texas.. so damn hot! .. am still wearing shorts in december.. lol. .. but yea i've checked the coill.. its a bit loose and i tightened it up a few times.. disconnecting and reconnecting the coil.. am guessing its going bad.. oh well.. msd coils coming soon...

Nice, you'll have to keep us updated on this. I'm curious about the MSD coils cause I'm considering it myself.

my 03 supercrew just started missing on cyl #2 the other day...im changing the coil and possibly the plug as well as cleaning the injector next to that cylinder. i noticed that your guys's problems happened when there was rain/snow or any kind of moisture! well mine as well, because i drove it back to IL for the holidays and its been bitterely cold and snowy/slushy and it never acted up before that...

I have had this porblem and traced it to a cracked plug,
and agin to a bad coil. check plugs for carbon tracking.

pull the the plug and check for cracks. Pull the coil and check for corrosion. Check the resistance of the primary and secondary. They both should read about 55

Having problems getting the socket on the #6 cylinder coil bolt to change the coil. 2000 F150, 4.6. Any suggestions. Hate to think I have to pull the rail off. I had this coil off about 9 months back and can not for the life of me remember hown I got it. Thanks in advance. ED
