i got a 97 f150 xl...and was sick of my headlights being dirty looking with the hazed dull look....
so today i went over them with 2000grit then 2500grit wet-sanded them....spent about 8 min with the 2000 going from side to side, then hit em with the 2500 going up and down, rinsed em off dryed them and went over with plastic restoration polish....putting a little on the corner of a flannel cloth going around in a circle pattern. then whiped off the residue and they look great the pictures dont do justice i took em on my phone...but they look way better than they did

Should have done before and after... But they look nice... I would do this on my 97 but they are so yellow and dim that i dont think it would be worth it I just need to buy new ones...

its hard to see the difference lol with that camera but they look alittle cleaner niiiiiiice!!

Good post bro. I need to do the same thing, How much did it cost in supplies and did u consider using that lens cleaner that comes with a drill bit polishing pad and polishing compound?

I experimented on my sons car. 1st thing (after removing the headlight from the car) was to gind off those little plactic nubs/posts on the surface of the lens. Not sure if they have any real purpose - but, they didn't do anything but get in the way of addressing the complete surface.

After that it was smooth sailing - they turned out really nice.

Adk...well it didnt really cost me anything...i had the sandpaper layin around in my garage and same with the polish....i didnt realy know of the polishing drill attachment...just the only thing i would worry about that...would it may spin kinda fast...therefore youd have to use a **** load of compound and hope you dont burn into your lense yah know.

Tex...i think those nubs are some way of aligning your headlight i dunno tho...and have never used them...and yeah going around those nubs was the hardest part...glad it turned out good for yah

i had used the drill bit attachment kit from 3M... It worked wonders! It came with step by step instructions so it was really easy. Deffinatly worth the 20 bucks

Also try taluine the stuff really works but remember it DOES cause cancer and you want to be in a open area for it. We used it back in the day when i was a river guide for prepping rubber but it works wonders on the plastic headlights and its a 2 step process. Put a small amount on a old rag, apply a light coating, wait 4-5 minutes wipe off with a clean wet wash rag.
