So I'm moving to richmond for a little while. I've been driving my 2000 f-150 SCab 6.5 foot bed for about 4 years now in the suburbs of northern VA so i have a feel for driving it and maneuvering it. The parking garage where i'm moving is big enough to hold an f-150. I've never really driven in the city before aside from passing through(not a day to day basis type of thing)

I have the option of a 2004 Toyota tacoma (the year before they upsized them) or taking my f-150. What would you choose? I have a place to park it in a parking garage, but I'm worried about narrow streets and space issues. ie. 2 lane alleyway, cars parked on both sides, a car coming from the other direction, the guy acting dumb, and not enough room to get passed Or some dude parking horrible causing lack of room for both of our cars.

Also, i can parallel park, but I don't think I'll really need to do that often. Would you go with the tacoma or f-150? Will it be a complete pain driving a full-size in the city? The tacoma is an extended cab but the back seats couldn't get much more cramped, so I could really only hold one passenger as opposed to 5 in my f-150.

Richmonds a ****hole, don't worry about "city" stuff, your truck will fit wherever it needs too.

I've driven mine through cities, the only problem was down town in a larger city it was almost too wide for one lane, but no biggie.

I drive it through the city everyday. If you can park in a crowded walmart parking lot, then you're good to go. lol

the driving part itself don't faze me in an F-150 in city...driving at all in the city and what might happen to the truck is another story but I'm fine with controlling an F-150 in one....I'd be fazed no less in a crew cab 8' F-350

Had to drive in down town Baton Rouge all summer and although it was easier in my moms Camery, a truck is a truck in the city. Only difference in maneuverability is if you changed to a car. Still I preferred my f150 6.5' than that car.

Without a doubt the Tacoma all day. Unless you just like looking at check engine lights.

Thanks for the response guys! I'm gonna take the f-150. As for the truck when it's parked, I plan on leaving nothing valuable it in and keeping the doors unlocked but locking the tailgate. Hopefully this would stop a would be thief from punching my locks out or damaging the vehicle only to find nothing of value inside. I'm also hoping it will make them pass on the tailgate. I may buy one of the masterlock tailgate locks i saw on a thread earlier this week as an extra precaution though.
