1997 Ford F150 4x4 4.6L 8 cylinder

My check engine light came on the other day, and everything seems ok.

I did notice that after I turn the engine off I hear a buzzing noise from under the hood.

The buzzing sound does not start immediately, usually takes about 5 seconds then it only lasts 4-5 seconds.

Any suggestions I can look at before I take it to a mechanic, and get chareged an arm and a leg just to tell me what is wrong.

If you haven't had the truck scanned, get it done. The guys here are quite knowlegable, but they do need to know what codes you have. I understand that some auto parts stores will check for codes at no to little charge. The noise you hear might be the AC system. With the engine off, the two pressures (high and low side) balance out. It does sound like a buzz.
