cheap paint job
#11
Drive to the local Walmart. Go into the paint isle. Find the cheapest rattle can you can and buy at least 3 of them.
Then go to town. Don't bother washing before hand or taping it off. Just start spraying.

I believe maaco did mine for less than $1500. The truck was red and silver and they re did it red and I don't remember if they did clear coat. It's an ok paint job. They didn't do the bed but the truck doesn't look to bad.

If you do your own prep work and bring the truck to the shop masked and ready for spray you can get it done for around $500. The reason I know is because I had my 86 Ranger sprayed in OD Green, it was a great hunting truck. Unfortunately Ford produced that year with the A4LD automatic transmission, the biggest POS tranny I've owned in a vehicle.

Maaco isn't so bad - my stepson's Crown Vic P71 needed paint, and since it was black, he got the mid-grade paint (with the clearcoat built in) for about $400. Still holding up well. My black factory clear coat is shot, and after a shop does the prep (sanding, filling in some of the off-road gouges), I'll probably go for the same deal (black, of course).

And of course if you do the prep work the cost is less, and the end result does end up better.

Like I said, I'm not certain on how much it was for mine. They did the prep work and all. But my parents paid for the paint and all that as my birthday gift back in February since I bought the truck on my own.

I called my local auto body and for a quick sand and spray with single stage paint it's $500-600 which isn't to bad... I have some rust on the rockers and above the tail pipe but I'm not going to spend the money on fixing all that to much $$$$ so the paint will do for now until I find a newer f150
