I went to chang the shocks and found there is something plugged into the top of the shock. It has wires coming from it. How do I remove this?

It sounds like you have some sort of autoride, trace the wires up into the fender well, there should be a plug clipped to the inner fender, unclip it there. Take the module off the top of the shock and remove the shock. by unplugging these shocks you will probably get a warning light on the dash. do so research and find if this system is on a fuse by itself and remove the fuse.
