Default caulking rear window water leak?

I read some past posts about rear window leaks, and instead of going to a glass shop or dealer, i am just going to try to apply some caulk around the window to try and stop the water leak. Has anybody ever used polyurethane caulk for this? Would it work better than silicone, or should I just use silicone? Or does anyone have something else that they have used that works better? Leaks bad to the right of the top brake light, should I take that off and caulk underneath it, or just on the outside. I'm not sure where exactly it leaks from.
