Default catalytic converters

I'm always doin something to my exhaust and figured I might as well do a complete rebuild, I found a magnaflow cat set (http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642/23016/10002/-1) and it only has 2 cats in it... I making sure I can use it legally before I buy it knowing that our trucks by stock have 4 cats.

It says in the description on Jegs that it is 49 state legal. So if you don't live in California you should be fine.

it just seems vague on detail is why I posted it on here. and cant seem to find it on the magnaflow site.and the way they come out seperatly instead of together concerns be alittle, but I might just make it work, maybe put some 3" pipe on it.

Jeffy, there information all over the web on this. I didnt look at the kit but many people remove two rear cats and some replace all 4 with the two magnaflows.

Yea see I still have the o2s that were after the rear pipe so I'm not sure how that would work. Seems like as long as it has the o2s were where the original ones were meaning inside the pre cats you shouldn't have a problem seems like it would just throw a CEL

Lots of people. I've been running two cats for as I can remember. Way back when, I offed my rears, ran with just the two upstreams which are the most restrictive. No such thing as"pre-cats" on Ford trucks. Toyotee's had pre-cats lol.

Anyway, your still within programmed parameters just running two cats. No CEL IF your system is tight. Emissions testing, - well no CEL and you pass right ? Unless they do that sniffer thing. But hey, I'm not sure how they test where you are. In Cali you better not fart when there testing or you'll fail for sure. So yea, put a cork in it.
Regular CARB OX emissions should be within state specs just about every where else.

Not to hijack the thread but are the first cats or rear cats more restrictive?
