Default Brake fluid now gone

My brake pedal is now touching the floor. I put brake fluid in but because I did not know what to do, boyfriend f... useless, it is now gone. What does this tell me? I know brakes need to be done, but does that fluid disappearin mean rotors, drums, pads, front back? I have no idea what to do alone.

If your fluid is disappearing and there are no apparent leaks. It's likely your master cylinder is shot and leaking fluid into the brake booster.

Great! How can I be totally sure? I'd hate to replace that and still have no brakes.

you should get under the truck and look at the brake lines, I bet you've got one rusted out.
look for wet spots along the frame and at each wheel as well as at the master and ABS block.
it's not hard to spot brake fluid leaks

you could also refill the fluid and have some one look while pumping the brake pedal, you'd be looking for squirting or running fluid

OK. I want to ask this... just found leak. You know that metal rigid tube/line that goes from passenger side under frame that goes to junction box on drivers side is rotted. Any workable tricks to fix? Truck is a rot box and just had new front shocks so could be that fix that finally did the tube in. ?????

Is it leaking at the connection or the actual line? Pics would be great. If it's the line rusted through, the only option is to replace it.

^^^ Spot on Screamin'.

Brakes aren't something to half ***. Do it right for your safety. Probably need to buy a brake line service kit, or rent one to make a new line.

The hard line going to the rears rusted our on my '99 a number of years back. I pulled them all (if one went, I figured the others weren't far behind), then bent up new ones with Cupra-Nickle hard line using the old lines as templates. CN is much easier to work with than standard steel, and won't rust. I covered them with vacuum tuning for protection, and then had a shop flare the ends for me. I seem to recall one of the lines (rear?) needing a junction to be able get it back in place.
