cant engage 4 wheel drive

cant engage 4 wheel drive
i have a 2000 f-150 with the 7700 package.. when i go to put it in 4 wheel drive, i can move the floor shifter around but i cant get it to go into any of the 4 wheel drive options...any ideas?

Can you be more specific? It won't shift into 4L or 4H but you can move it around? Does it feel like it's shifting into gear and perhaps just the light isn't coming on?
