So, i'm out of school for the summer, and have lots of free time so I was thinking I should pull the 4.6 out of my 1997 f150, and rebuild it, clean it up and throw some paint on it. Anybody have any advice/tips?

(I don't have much experience, but it's not a problem, I know a few people that do)

If you are getting frustrated, just walk away. The best thing you can do. Take your time so you get it done the right way

Put a budget together of all parts, seals, gaskets, etc you will need. Get a repair manual and make sure you will have all the tools (cherry picker, wrenches, sockets, extentions, part-specific tools, etc) you will need to have for the job. If you are unfamiliar with working on motors, make sure you have people around with experience. Most importantly, take your time.

I must warn you this is a very complicated rebuild. Mainly because of all of the variance in engine styles. You have Romeo or Windsor, PI or Before lots of little changes that were made during production. Get ready for a big headache.
