Default Bumper decisions!! Chrome vs Monotone

Just picked up an '03 F150 STX, truck is in great shape apart from the bumpers which have some surface rust - went to a several body shops today and they told me the easiest thing to do is replace them.

I can buy primed front and back bumper for about $300 and the have them painted to match the rest of truck for about $400 bucks and keep it original. Problem is I may be chasing the same problem a couple of years down the road.

Cheaper option is just buying chrome bumpers, which will last longer (drive lots of gravel roads, salt, etc) just wondering how the chrome center bumper and rear bumper would look on the STX as everything else is color matched, although I do have chrome wheels and step bars.

Thoughts? Also, if anyone has pics of an STX with chrome bumpers they could post it would be greatly appreciated.

Stx or not. Does not change the bumpers. Hell I have never even seen a stx.

Pretty sure STX is just an appearance package where bumpers, valence, etc were all color matched to the body and used painted steel bumpers. Other models had chrome.

That's also not a regular bumper. Huh. Interesting.

When I got hit in the back (small impact), it was cheaper to replace both bumpers with Ford chrome bumpers than to replace and paint the rear bumper. I felt it was an upgrade anyway, so went for it. It is a Sport with body matching bumpers.

These trucks are pretty popular, you can probably find one with good bumpers in the scrap yards, or someone parting one out on CL. It will be cheaper, but up to you.

Thanks for the pics looks good.

Looked at it again yesterday, and decided to just touch up the bumpers myself and see how they hold up. Surface rust is minor if it doesn't work out I can always replace them down the road.
