Default Brake light on dash console is not working properly

Hey guys,

When I start up the 97 F150 Lariat 4x4 4.6L, all the lights including the brake sign comes up and goes away properly. But the brake sign doesn't come on when I put on the parking brake.

I also noticed that for a week prior to this, I noticed that the brake signal was on when I was driving. I never use the parking brakes so I just had to release the parking brake to have the parking signal go away even though there was no load on the parking brake. I thought that I may have just bumped the parking brake lever when I was getting in the truck.

Any guidance will help guys.

There's s switch on the parking brake pedal assembly that's probably bad. You've gotta pull the whole assembly out to replace it I think, someone might know a better way. There's 3 nuts on studs holding it to the side I think.
