Default Brake light and ABS light on

This morning on my way to work brake warning light and ABS light came on and stayed on, no flashing just stayed on. I haven't had time to look at it yet, I will look under hood when I get home. Brakes seem to work fine and I don't think I have ABS brakes. Actually I am pretty sure I do not have ABS brakes. Brakes are less than a year old and front rotors were replaced as well. Front brake calipers are about two years old. Any suggestions on where to start trouble shooting. The only thing I could think of is fluid and fuse.
Oh by the way 1998 XL 4.2 150k miles
thanks

LOL... if you did not have ABS then why would you have an ABS fault light ?? you may have a sensor going bad...should be one on each front hub and a rear speed sensor on the rear diff... have the fault code read and replace that part.

Is it possible just to have rear ABS? I did the front brakes my self, changed rotors and pads. I did not see ABS on the front. I had a 2007 and replaced ABS sensors on that one. I am assuming they would be similar.

Rear ABS would be pointless...you would want it on the front tires which do 75% of your braking...

I was just doing some research on these forums and it appears that some 1998 f150s came with just rear ABS. Sounds strange but I read it on several threads. First time I ever heard of that. Anyway, I will start toubl shooting with the simple stuff first.

Maybe the same guy designed it that decided 4 or so threads in the 5.4 heads was a good idea. Lol.

I'd point to the speed sensor, it should be ontop of the rear diff. Same issue happened on my brothers '96 Dodge 1500, and my uncles F-250, both ended up being the speed sensor. On both those trucks it was one bolt that held the sensor in, then the sensor just went in a hole. I'd take it out and try to clean it.

Past that, hows the brake fluid? Same lights came on in my 350 when I was low on brake fluid.

Want s real mystery? lol my abs light comes on every time I drive it... Try to scan it and the tool reads no abs light is on. It also read 7 continuous codes in the gem module. Horn switch circuit 4x4 switch circuit door ajar ground circuit hell I can't remember them now but everything works as it should. Horn works 4x4 works everything works. Do a read out test all the abs sensors read the same mph while driving. No idea why the light comes on. Did a gem module test and everything seems fine
