Default Bought my first truck, A 10th gen!

So I posted in the general introduction but I also wanted to here
since this is where I'll most frequent.

Having sold my home, and closing on another I figured If i could
pick up a truck at the local auction where I recently picked up
a ford explorer that I would since I know I'll be building a garage and doing some reno. Sure, I could use the explorer and a trailer but I just needed an excuse for the wife so I could buy something. lol, I have 5 vehicles.

So, Here she is.

2001 F150 XLT 4x4
Triton 4.6L V8
163,000 miles
Came with the intake, PowerAid Throttle body spacer, wheels and tool box.
Has rusted the rocker panels but it'll still do it's job as a truck.

Once I brought it home it had a few issues I expected out of a repo auction vehicle.

So, I installed some new parts
Battery
Alternator (Amazon $80)
Spark Plugs
Amazon Coil Packs

And I ordered some parts from Rock Auto.
Brake Rotors, Brake Pads, Rear Axle Seals, Rear Diff Gasket

So here is my first truck that I picked up for $1600.

Before Cleaning it

Obviously it's not "Nice" but it'll do it's job and I really
like having a truck more than I ever thought I would.

Good start! Just some advice though, coil packs and spark plugs that aren't motorcraft will likely give you problems. These triton motors tend to skip and misfire on other plugs. Also make sure you tighten the spark plugs to around 28 lbs so it doesn't spit the plugs and damage the threads in the head

And $1600 is a steal, thats easily $4500 or more in my neck of the woods.

1600 is a great deal lol. Looks really good from my angle. Only thing I'd do it take out that CAI, but other than that looks like a nice truck.

Thanks for the heads up.

I figured for the price i'd give the coils a chance, I did the same ones
on a 4.6L V8 in my old 2002 explorer and worked great so for $35 worth the shot. I agree though, these motors are picky and do want motorcraft parts.

If the plug/coil don't fix the miss in cyl. #4 i'll look at the injector.

When I pulled the plug it was dry and carbon covered.
So something wasn't working right.

I have a 23" LED bar laying in a box so I'll throw that on the bull bar up front
for the back roads.

Fouled from running on a bad coil.

Don't worry, I could probably get 4000-4500 for this truck.
I just happen to pick the right day at the Auction so truck buyers weren't there.
Even the auctioneer said something "Is the other side of the truck missing or something that I can't see, this is ridiculous."

02_Black_On_White: Okay thanks. I'll report back when I
get the rest of the plugs changed and see if I still have a miss.

Ready to get these brakes on and rear end fluid changed once I put
the new axle seals and rear diff cover gasket on.

When you replace the seals do the bearings and don't forget FM if it's a LS diff, I'm sure you already know that

It's got the Off road package so it'll take a bottle of friction modifier from the dealer ( the rear ends don't like other kinds of friction modifiers )
