Blown spark plug
i blew the spark plug out of my cylinder head when i started up my truck, it stripped the threads. does anyone know of the cheapest way to fix the problem for the time being? advanced auto parts sells a kit for around 50 bucks but i was wondering if it actually worked of not. also where is a cheap place to get new cylinder heads that will fit a 5.4L v8 300ci bi fuel 4x4. i know that rethreading will only last so long so need to look into the more perminite fix

I have known people to have problems with the Helicoil on spark plug threads when I raced sports cars. The Heli would blow out too, not seat, or back out when you removed the plug in some cases. I guess it depends on how much use the truck will get. Who knows, the heli might work fine for you and it is rather inexpensive but keep in mind each time you re-thread it makes it worse if the repair does not work. Of course if yahoos didn't cross thread the plugs it would not blow out and I am not buying the design defect thing. Aluminum is so soft it allows idiots to force the plug and strip the threads. I have seen the same blow out problems on some of the finest cars in the world and is was not a design flaw. Here is a video link to other spark plug thread repair systems:

I would try Twin's suggestion which I think is the Dorman 42025.
The Heli does not work well.
I had never heard of it before but here it is.

they cost 70 bux all you do is keep the motor cold, place the spark plug in the tap and then slowly tap it....its tappered at the end so it self taps...its easy and takes 5 minutes....the boot plugs right on the coil pack its everything you need for a simple fix
