I have a 1998 f150 with a 4.6 engine. I recently replaced the alternator and put on a new Gates fan belt. As it has gotten colder outside the belt starts to squeal briefly when I start it. Is there an adjustment on the belt tensioner to increase the tightness of the belt or do I need a new tensioner. Is the tensioner difficult to replace?

Sounds like you need a new tensioner, all you have to do is remove the belt, the tensioner is held on with 3 bolts. It is a tight squeeze but not hard to do.
