Unhappy Big Misfire Problem Need Help

So cylinder 6 keeps giving me problems... It starts to miss real bad and you open the hood and manage to spot the boot for the plug, its jumping or hopping up and down and is not fully seated on the plug. Is it a bad plug, wire, or head? Well up til this week i could push the boot back down when its not running and itd run perfect for a week or 2. Well now the old beast is Not keeping that boot on the plug i get the flashing engine light of death for a few miles it smooths back out and then after a while it comes back and runs rough and i get the flashing light again.... Its a 97 4.6W with 156K and it does have a timesert style plug repair on cylinder 3 from when a plug popped out when i bought it. Any suggestions appreciated.

If it's just the boot/connector, then crimp it tighter..You know, the connector inside the boot.

The timesert repair should last forever. At least you didn't go with a Helli-coil.

Did you cross thread it or strip it? Yea, if that's the case, or perhaps if it wasn't torqued down enough then yes, look for all that.

Tighten it to 28' lbs. If it still comes loose, yes, there's a head thread problem.

A little info about this, -

To strip it, you would have to of been tighten to 100' lbs plus. That's what these heads bench test to (100 lbs foot). That said, plugs won't take more 38' lbs before you break the seal. So don't worry about the strip unless it was indeed cross threaded. Cross threading is easier to do. The best way to start these plugs is with a scrap piece of 3/8 air hose. That way you know they're going in right.
