I have the v6 4.2l 1997 ford f150 xl regular cab and were trying to figure out how to loosen the Belt Tensioner.

See if there is a square cutout that takes 3/8" socket driver. I replaced the bearing about a year ago on my 97, and I don't remember I had to do it differently.

There should be a square hole for a 3/8" ratchet to fit in or a bolt head you can put a wrench on to remove the belt.
