Default Battery light?

My battery light came on in my truck. I just replaced my alternator a few days ago because of another problem but the light is still on. What else could cause it?

New or rebuilt alternator, the reason I ask most rebuilders just ck diodes and look at the brushes just to see if they need replacing, give it a bead blast put it in a box and you buy it, there not really rebuilt but cheap. Get your charging system cked before you throw cash at it.

I got burned going the rebuilt route, 'cos it was cheap.....would only out out enough voltage to lose the "low charge" light above 2,000 rpm. Ended up buying a motorcraft re-man unit, for double what I'd already paid.......learned the lesson though.

If you have a meter, check the voltage of your battery with the engine running. With it running you should read somewhere around 13.6 or so volts if the alternator is working. Much less than that and something is wrong with the Alt, Tracka96

Had the same problem after changing the plugs ! my light came on. I removed the alternator and took to Murrays because it was a lifetime warranty. The guy said it was bad because it had a noisy bearing which I never heard. They replaced it anyway. I had them check the new one and the old one on there machine, the old one worked fine , but still took the new one. I figured it was
one of the terminal which was really dirty and probably didn't make a good ground. New unit worked fine after cleaning the contacts.
