Learn me some f150s!
I currently have an 03 cobra and a 66 coupe but am looking to get in a 4x4 F150 for a little fun
I'll be selling the coupe for hopefully around 9, and will spend probably about half of that on a truck.
I've seen quite a few in this generation that are going for 3-4k, how stout are these trucks? I'd be getting a 4.6 most likely. Is the 4wd reliable? Anything specific to look for or check? No rush but I'm trying to learn a little more about these trucks before I'm fully set on an F150 and not a GM.
Thanks guys.

well
i have a 4x4 super crew with a 5.4 and my buddy rayball has a supercrew with a 4.6, and i will beat him by atleast 10 links zero to 100, but thats with my mods i got, alot of people where i live have these generation f150s, with 4.6s and 5.4s, but ive seen what the can take and withstand, not no trouble with 4x4 mode or nothin like that, i would get a 5.4 if i were you, but i cant knock a 4.6, cause they are bullet proff, literraly,my buddy sunk his 4.6 in 4 1/2 feet of water, and it still crunk up 8 hours later when we got it out, we had to flush the engine oil out atleast a milloin times though, but either way you go, you get one, lift it up slightly, or even just leave it stock and put mud tires on it, be ready to dish out lotts of money in gas, and off roading can get expensive to bud
and look how high the water line was!! it was almost up to the windsheild, i snatched him thus far out before his truck shut off, anyways, two days later after we flushed and dried everything out, it ran fine, now theres an example of how tuff these trucks are

December 2009 TOTM!
Trucks are reliable for sure. If you are willing to wait it out and find a truck with a 5.4 and mechanical 4wd you should be fine.
Seems like there's more problems with the shift **** over the mechanical shifter. I've never had a problem and my 4wd always works. I have the mechanical 4wd shifter.
4.6 is a great engine but if your wanting to have a fast(er) truck and have the power towing if you do, get the 5.4.
I have some pics of muddin' in my album.. I drive my truck hard, only thing I have broken was my cv axle from aftermarket torsion keys and my altenator went out when muddin' in a deep hole.
