Default if you know about cables open this please

I Have a 2000 F150 5.4 4x4 dealer wants $134 for battery cables and o'rielys said they didn't have any for the truck. Can anyone tell me why in the world it is $134, and also are they anything special or can I just fab up some with the appropriate gauge wire?

Dealerships always charge inflated prices for parts, you'll often see them described as stealerships.

You can order one, or just get some welding or battery cable and terminals and make your own.

Was it just a straight cable from the battery to the solenoid? I thought there was some jumper wires coming from it.

It was neg neg cable running to the starter but I used a battery shut-off switch and wired it in so I didn't have to replace the whole cable as pulling the harness out that far was a huge enough pain in the A$@. (Cable from starter to shut-off to cable from O'rielys to the battery) Thanks engineer on the project of making replacing cables to the battery(a common problem over the life of a vehicle) as hard as possible trying to drive up the stock of every Ford dealership out there.

Why not go with Exide's quick splice's? They are quick and inexpensive. I've used these since the 90's and had really good luck. It's the first 3-4 inches of cables that usually go bad, so this works in replacing that part that corrodes. Ebay has them if you can't find them locally. The newer ones have the same style clamps at the terminals. Older ones are made with the lead ends. I can't post the picture of it, but if you want to see what they look like, go to this link.
