Default Battery cable off now can't pass emission.

Had some body work done, battery was disconnected while working on it. Then took it straight to the garage for inspection. Since the battery cable was off it failed. Mechanic told me to drive it 100 miles or so to reset it and bring it back in. So far I drove it 143 miles and still hasn't reset. Does anybody know how long it takes to reset?

Do you know which monitor hasn't run yet ? (probb EVAP). Yea, you need to go for a cruise on the e-way or force run the system.

To Force run, - look up "Ford Company Drivecycle" on the net. Force the EVAP to run, - follow the directions given at the site.

Not sure what State your from but this time of year outside temp is usually the problem. EVAP won't run below 40 degrees no matter how much and what speeds you drive it.

I don't know about your state, but in NC you can pass the test if one self monitor still hasn't completed. More than one and your SOL.

I had to drive my truck 250 miles before I decided to call the inspection station and ask if I have to keep driving with one test incomplete.... drove 175 miles more than I needed to. lol

Right, - you can run a EVAP bi-pass to rid yourself of a P-1000. But, I'm not sure that clears the monitor/readiness. It just gets rid of the CEL. The web site I posted (post #2 above) should explain that. Well, here, I'll link you guys to it, -

http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html

Right, needs to be 40* + or you have to bi-pass. Curious, I replaced my battery terminals 2 weeks back and we've had some cold temps (in MI). However it's been above 40* maybe 3 or 4 days during those last two weeks. I'll scan it real quick...... Yea, all 8 monitors have run/passed since that time on the 98. I didn't force run, we don't have emission testing or inspections in this state.

Anyway , that's the link above, if anyone wasn't aware.
