Default Air Intake Advice

Hey guys. So I have a 97 with the 4.2 and I was looking at a short ram air intake just on eBay and was wondering if anyone had ever used one? I really just wanted to use the piping and replace the filter with a spectre I already had. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Don't waste your money on the intake. Search the Gotts mod on here for a good intake. Spectre filters are terrible on filtration efficiency, look to a good dry filter to go with the Gotts.

Thanks man a buddy of mine just traded in his 250 and put the stock filter back on and gave me that so I have it replacing my stock one for now. My next question, what if I did buy that kit and then just replaced the filter with like an airaid or k&n or something along those lines? I've heard a lot of people using the gotts just haunt taken a look for myself I'll have to check it out for sure!

The K&N made my response cleaner.. Dont do a oil'd air filter unless you know how to and will keep up the maintence on it... Get a dry filter if your lazy lol

Ebay CAIs work just as good as the K&Ns and other aftermarket brands. You aren't going to gain much power anyway, or enough to make a difference. You are better off saving money for a tuner, unless you just want a new filter because your old one is dirty.
